With a background in art education, she has refined her skills to create diverse pieces that reflect her imagination and intuitive approach. Residing in New Zealand, Helen draws inspiration from the surrounding landscapes, particularly the varying light and weather. Her artwork often highlights the preciousness of water and the expansive skies of the plains, while also showcasing intimate, hidden, or imagined forest scenes. Through her use of color and movement, she conveys psychological themes and personal narratives, employing her distinctive and sometimes unpredictable, Alla Prima painting techniques.
About the artist...
Helen has had a rewarding 20-year career as an art educator, whilst showcasing her work in various exhibitions and receiving recognition as a finalist in multiple awards.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Media Arts, majoring in Painting in 2000, she held two successful solo gallery exhibitions in Auckland before dedicating herself to teaching and serving as a Curriculum Leader. Recent changes have inspired Helen to redirect her focus back to her creative pursuits. She is excited to share more of her artwork with a wider audience, with the goal of enriching the lives of others through sharing authentic art.
